Pupil Wellbeing

At Chiltern Wood School we understand that the current climate can cause stress and anxiety for our children and their families, below are some things that may help everyone to stay positive and calm in these uncertain times.

Chiltern Wood School works closely along LD CAMHS, if you feel your child is need of these services please contact you child's class teacher or Wendy Taylor to support a referral.

 

Supporting Parents Helpfinder (Young Minds)

Times are tough for many people right now. Parents find themselves pulled in many different direction and children may be struggling being in the house for so much longer than usual.

A mixture of concern about covid, work from home and children at home, along with a possible financial impact make for a stressful household.

Young Minds have created a useful 'Supporting Parents Helpfinder'. By answering six questions, parents can find out how to support their child's mental health during the pandemic (and beyond).

Child in Mind

Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families have produced a series of expert podcasts to help parents understand and manage child and family mental health problems called Child in Mind. They are available to find here: Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families 

 

 

Chiltern Wood School Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Charter

This charter has been drawn up with the following principles in mind:

  • Take care of yourself
  • Take care of others
  • Take care of this school

Everyone within the school community has a responsibility to consider the impact s/he makes on themselves, others, and the school environment, through the decisions they make.

  • Be safe in their school environment
  • Be kept safe from potential causes of physical, verbal, emotional and sexual abuse
  • Have their special needs well understood by adults working with them
  • Be given a voice in which ever form of communication is most useful to them, and to then be listened to and responded to
  • Be happy, learn and have fun within the school day
  • Be listened and responded to

Pupils are encouraged to …

  • Be as proactive as possible in looking after their own wellbeing
  • Make good choices to support their wellbeing, with the support of those around them
  • Develop self-confidence
  • Accept routines and activities that promote their wellbeing, and develop independence within this where appropriate
